Love. True love.

No, this is not a post about the fact that, according to my horoscope today, my love life is about to drastically improve with Venus moving into Cancer today.

It's about something I saw yesterday: the launch of the City of Yarra's Relationships Register. Following a brief commitment ceremony, Jeff Chiang and Rodney Cruise (accompanied by their baby son Ethan) became the first couple to sign the register, and in doing so helped make history.

“You are my best friend, my
lover, and the father of my son Ethan,” each said to the other in turn, before a celebrant, family and friends. “I now proudly take your hand as you have taken my heart.”

It brought tears to my eyes, I can happily say. Ain't love grand?

Yes it's nice, and what a lovely child.

Best wishes to them. Of course, marriage and relationship registers etc are just society's way of saying; "We accept you're relationship."

Practically speaking that's important (for example, to be able to access superannuation), but in the end who needs the state's aok.

Nice red balloons as well.

What happens when Venus moves out of Cancer?

We accept "your" relationship not "you're". Arrghh, excuse that error.

Darlene, when Venus moves out of Cancer, presumeably I collapse in a sobbing heap of woe and misery. Either that or I go retrograde. Something like that, anyway.

That's hilarious. Bloody astrology can promise so much, but deliver so little.

Come on now, I'm sure all you have to do to attract a partner is say, "I'm Richard, and I'm a writer". Writers are, of course, known for their emotional literacy and wonderfulness as lovers. And then you can tell them you have a blog and that you like writing about your personal life. In life Flynn, no worries.
